Local Circumstances

Look up your location to see what the eclipse will be like there!

We have listed here all of the small towns and cities in the path, as well as some larger cities throughout
the country that are not in the path, to show the local circumstances of the eclipse for these locations. The data is given in table form, and is approximate!

Eclipse2017.org has also prepared pages dedicated to each community in the path of totality - these offer the most up-to-date information for each city and town in the path! (And their pages are linked to in the table below for your convenience!)

At the links below, you'll find not only towns and cities, but also airports, newpaper and TV/radio stations, astronomy clubs,
universities, government agencies, city governments, town councils, state parks, and just
about anywhere we could think of that might be of interest in giving you the circumstances of the eclipse!

The link will take you to an instructions page, from which you can link to an interactive map of the US. Zoom in and click on any location to see the local times and circumstances for the eclipse!

Read why there are different durations of totality at different places in the path

And make sure to have eclipse glasses for everyone in your group - to safely observe the partial phases of the eclipse!

We are working to get all state pages active; please bear with us!

If your state isn't listed as having totality, you must get to one of the states that is!

This is very important; even if you see that where you are is going to get a 99% partial eclipse, you should get to the path and see a TOTAL eclipse!
Yes, a deep partial eclipse is interesting, and it'll get a little dark, and maybe a few of the effects will show up for you - but you won't get the REAL picture, and you won't be able to look at the beauty of a TOTALLY eclipsed sun!

If you were hungry, and you were taken to the most magnificent restaurant, where the most wonderful smells were coming out of the kitchen, and you were seated at the table in anticipation of a great meal - and all you got to do was smell the cooking while those around got to eat the actual food -- well, that's about what a 99% partial eclipse is like.

GET TO THE PATH!!!!
