Stories

From Harry Wyeth:

We saw our fourth total eclipse in Curaçao in February 1998 (earlier ones being in the Northwest Territories, Montana, and La Paz). As usual, the event was spectacular, inspiring, and rather spiritual in nature. Crowds cheered, shouted, and became emotional, even though the eclipse was short. What was most memorable was that just after totality, I glanced down at the beach and saw--for the first time--shadow bands marching across the sand! I shouted "Shadow bands!" and the hundreds of people on the beach--none of whom had noticed the scene--looked down and got to see them! It lasted for less than a minute, but was very memorable.
