From Pat Branch

I saw the 1970 eclipse from the Melbourne Florida area as an 11 year old.
I remember the surprising darkness, the sounds of the birds getting quiet. The dogs heading toward the house and how the temperature dropped.

I had made a cardboard box pinhole reflector like they showed in school or in the newspaper.
At the moment of totality I took the box off and looked at the sun.
It is something that you will remember.

Now I see it is going to almost run right over my home town half way between Columbia and Orangeburg SC. WOW, I will have waited 47 years between eclipses. I will be home to see that!
