The Lowell Obervatory in Flagstaff AZ (yes, THAT Lowell Observatory!) is working with community of Madras, OR and the Oregon Solarfest on our event - Lowell Observatory’s 2017 Solar Eclipse Experience, which is being held at the Madras High School Football Field.

The event is focused on community and student education, and is open to the public for a small fee. Their description follows:

"Our event is an opportunity for members of the public and students to safely experience the rare occurrence of being in the path of totality for a solar eclipse. Viewers in Madras, OR can expect to see over 2 minutes of totality. Attendees will enjoy: solar glasses with safe viewing instructions, expert viewing announcements, hourly astronomy talks by Lowell Observatory renowned astronomers, a Sunday evening Star Party, live broadcast by the Science Channel from the football field, telescopes, food, refreshments, and various science-centric exhibition and vendor booths."

Please plan to stop by and participate - great things are happening in Madras!



An Eclipse camp in Madras Oregon has been approved to be on the shuttle route in Madras, which will take our campers to both the Solar fest and Lowel- sponsored events at the High School.  We are listed already on Sky and Telescope.

We still have amazing camping spots available with clear views in all directions both East/ West as well North/South!
