Official Plans for viewing the eclipse from Cortland

Initial eclipse day planning is underway in Cortland!!

There will be a pancake breakfast on Monday morning in the Village Park.

Parking guidelines include parking only on the West and South sides of narrow streets, alleys and county roads.  25 mph “school zone” suggested speed limits for the safety of those parked along roadways.

A community-wide safety plan is being drafted for first responders and command post coordination to respond to unforeseen issues.

Entertainment includes country music in the park, a life-sized board game in the park, community museum, and eclipse viewing in the storm shelter (just in case Aug 21 is a cloudy day)

After the Eclipse celebration includes plans for a watermelon feed and ice cream social.

Plans also include a brief fireworks display at the end of totality.

More information can be obtained by contacting the Cortland Improvement Association

If you are an official of Cortland, who is responsible for Eclipse2017 public outreach,
please send us information about your community’s 2017 eclipse plans – so we can share it here with everyone!
(Please note, we are completely swamped with requests, so NO more pictures - and PLEASE give us the text EXACTLY so we can cut and paste it in!)

Eclipse2017.org encourages everyone to get into the path of totality on eclipse day,
and see one of the greatest sights the sky has to offer!

(And make sure to have eclipse glasses on hand for everyone!)
