"Get your Eclipse on Route 66"

The St. Clair Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of St. Clair are co-sponsoring a great eclipse event, which starts Friday, August 18 with a parade and movies in the park. Saturday will be a bluegrass festival; Sunday, a Route 66 themed Car Show, and of course, Eclipse viewing on Monday!

St. Clair, Missouri, a town of 5000,  is located 40 miles southwest of the Gateway Arch at St. Louis, straddling the interstate. We will be represented at the St. Louis Eclipse Expo on June 17 at Queeny Park in St. Louis County. http://eclipseexpo.org for details on the expo. Our event goes from August 18 to the 21st. On Friday night, we will have a parade and picnic in the park at Orchard Park starting at 6 p.m., to get people settled in. Saturday will be a Bluegrass Festival, with national and local bluegrass musicians in Orchard Park,  starting at 10 a.m. and going to 10 p.m. There is a modest fee for entry to the music festival. On Sunday the local Route 66 Car Club and St. Clair Chamber will take over downtown with an on the street car show on Old Route 66, (see picture) including a burnout and many classes of cars. Free to enjoy, fee to enter a vehicle. Concurrently, there will be an art sale by the Old Bus Stop Art Club, including artistic eclipse representations, and activities at the St. Clair Historical Museum adjacent to the car show, and other activities around town.

Events climax on Monday starting at 10 a.m. and lasting until about 5 p.m. There will be at least 7 designated viewing stations around town, with trained Solar Ambassadors, and a number of local organizations will offering food and drink for sale including a couple hours after the eclipse is over to ease the crunch onto I-44.
