Makanda is in the path of totality for the Total Solar Eclipse of August 21, 2017!
Observers there will see (appx.) 2m 40s of totality!

Makanda is a very quaint little town that is right on the centerline in Southern Illinois!

Campground reservations for next year's total solar eclipse at Giant City State Park in Makanda, Illinois will be accepted at beginning Sept. 19, 2016. 
Campers familiar with Illinois state park reservations know reservations usually cannot be made until Jan. 1 each year; this is an exception.
If you want to make camping reservations for the eclipse, be ready to log on starting midnight Sunday!


Amateur radio operators from southern Illinois, SE Missouri, NW Kentucky and SW Indiana will be operating from 0001 August 17 through 2359 August 21, 2017 the special events station, W9E. All licensed amateur operators traveling to the area are welcome to attend the event and operate. Repeater talk in frequencies will be published on the website.
