Totality Start*: 1:17:06PM (CDT) *All times shown are calculated for the lat/long specified above, and are accurate to within a couple of seconds, due mainly to influences of the "edge effects" at the start and end of totality. For a more detailed explanation of this, please see the "About Accuracy" section of this great 2017 eclipse page by Ernie Wright of NASA! Please also note that these times have been converted from UTC; if you see times on other sites that say "UTC"/ "UT", or "GMT", those are NOT the local times for you in Festus! |

If you are an official of Festus, who is responsible for Eclipse2017 public outreach,
please send us information about your community’s 2017 eclipse plans – so we can share it here with everyone!
(Please note, we are completely swamped with requests, so NO more pictures - and PLEASE give us the text EXACTLY so we can cut and paste it in!)
Eclipse2017.org encourages everyone to get into the path of totality on eclipse day,
and see one of the greatest sights the sky has to offer!
(And make sure to have eclipse glasses on hand for everyone!)
Official Plans for viewing the eclipse from Festus
West City Park in Festus will be the gathering spot to view the 2017 Eclipse in Festus. We have acres and acres of open viewing space for visitors to come see the eclipse. Parking will be at the ballfield complex, so there may be a little walking to find a perfect spot.
We have four motels so folks can enjoy the weekend comfortably: Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Lexington Inn, and La Quinta (under remodel until 10/2016).
Our Eclipse event will be at West City Park with over 100 acres of open space with a great view of the sky. We are showing you pictures of the fairgrounds, stage field, and northern ball fields that will have an open view of the August 2017 eclipse!
