Official Plans for viewing the eclipse from Idaho Falls

This event is taking place on 8/19 from 9am - 12:30pm at Snake River Landing, and benefits homeless animals in the Snake River Valley.  There are various levels of sponsorship, and you can get more information on how to support this worthy cause here.

-Aquatic Center

Come cool off in our excellent indoor aquatic center! We have swim lanes, open swim areas, and even a hot tub. It is open late, 1 pm to 8 pm, Friday to Monday! Admittance is under $4. For more information, call 208-612-8111.

-Golf Deal

-Race at Noise Park

Watch the Stock Car Race at Noise Park, in Idaho Falls! The races begin around 7 pm, and end around 11 pm. The tickets are $12. Seats are limited! Call 406-925-1247 for more information.

-Cosmic Night Swimming at the Aquatic Center

From 9 pm to 12 am, join the Aquatic Center for a teen and older swim night! The lights will be dimmed, and glowing bracelets and special lights will provide a fun atmosphere. It is for ages 13 and older, and costs $4 a person. For more information, call 208-612-8111.



-Farmers’ Market

               Looking to buy some delicious, local food? Maybe buy some hand-made jewelry or art? Check out the Idaho Falls Farmers’ Market! The market is open 9 am to 1 pm, along Memorial Dr, in from the of Recreation Center.

-Duck Race

               Come see the beautiful Snake River, and win some prizes while you enjoy the Duck Race festivities! Bet $5 per small plastic duck, and if your duck “races” across the finish line first, you can win a truck, among other wonderful prizes. The race begins in the early afternoon. -Brothers Osborne/Colt Ford Concert at Sandy Downs

               Award-Winning country music stars Brothers Osborne, with opener Colt Ford, are playing at the scenic Sandy Downs Arena! Listen to some music, enjoy some great food, and grab a few drinks at this concert. The gate opens at 5:30 pm. Tickets begin at $30. For more information, go to

               Totality begins at 11:33 am, and runs for 1 minute and 40 seconds. The eclipse begins to cover the sun around 10:15 am, and ends around 1 pm.

-Designated Viewing Spots

               The City of Idaho Falls will have four locations that are considered “designated viewing locations.” These locations will have public restrooms, public parking, and plenty of wide open spaces with excellent sightlines for the eclipse!

-Golf Tournament

               Come play the Big Hole Golf Tournament at Sand Creek Golf Course! It will be 9-holes, and include lunch and prizes. For more information on times and pricing, please call 208-612-8115.



There is camping at Sandy Downs, South Tourist Park, and Idaho Falls Raceway at Noise Park. Camping is $100/night, with a 3 night minimum. All campsites are 20 feet x 60 feet.
