HOPKINSVILLE, Kentucky
(map
it!)
Being the closest city to the point of Greatest
Eclipse, Hopkinsville wasted no time at all in
beginning preparations in earnest for Eclipse day! Their
preparation efforts are positioning the
Hopkinsville area as a prime viewing location –
whether you are coming from across the country, or
around the world! They have truly
responded to this challenge, and are fully focused
on offering EVERYONE the very best of Kentucky
hospitality! We’ve been in close contact
with the Hopkinsville Community Preparedness
Committee, in full support of the events and
activities they are planning. You
can visit their page here to keep up to date with
the latest breaking information. Also check out their Facebook page! We will be posting updated
information, including official viewing site
information, as this becomes available!
This is the kind of thing you just can't believe, and
we just simply HAD to include it! On the night of 21 August
1955 (that's right - eclipse day will mark the 62nd
anniversary!), the Hopkinsville area played host to
one of the most bizzare UFO encounters in all
history! So overwhelming was the experience that
these folks had, Steven Spielberg himself used the
event as one of the inspirations for his blockbuster
hit movie, E.T.! There is nothing more we
can say about the facts of the case that aren't
already very well documented. But just imagine
how cool this will be, to have the official
Hopkinsville "Little Green Men" festival play out
during the eclipse festivities! We don't think that this
is an event to be missed! So check out their official
page... and decide for yourself: What do you believe? |
